Fall Road Trips
« on: October 05, 2019, 03:00:44 pm »
Better Homes and Gardens magazine states that 62% of fall travelers are planning to take a road trip.  The top reason is to see the beautiful foliage.  I love to take a beautiful day in the fall and meander down country roads trying to get lost and run across a quaint store or orchard.  And did you know there are actually apps to enhance a fall trip?  Well, of course there are! Foliage Leaf Peepr lets you submit pics and report on conditions.  With Leafsnap, you can take a pic of a leaf and the app will ID it and give you all the tree's info.  That is all a bit much for me but a thought someone might enjoy it.

I am more interested in the actual destination of a road trip. However, it is also nice to take in the natural beauty that surrounds us during these trips. My boyfriend and I plan on taking a road trip to the West Coast late next year. I will take appreciating the fall beauty in mind.

We take an annual road trip every year at this time to the same place.  My husband, his brother, brothers wife and I will drive to Lancaster PA to look at the beautiful fall leaves.  We spend the weekend at a beautiful B&B run by an Amish family.  We eat dinner with them, a real Amish home cooked meal and go shopping and tour the city.   Last year my sister in law bought a beautiful home made quilt.  I think maybe this year it might be my turn.lol

Oh, yes! I love a fall road trip to look at the beautiful foliage. One of my favorite places to go is up into the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee (about 4 hours from us or so). The mountains are full of beautiful fall foliage, every natural color you can imagine! Strangely enough, one of my other favorite places for viewing the lovely fall leaves is our local library, right down the street, because it seems like their landscaper some years ago planted some lovely trees that have the most gorgeous fall leaves right in the parking lot, LOL!  :peace:

I can totally understand why Fall is such a nice time to travel. I enjoy the fall weather too.

I always prefer to take "the road less-traveled."  Its a slower pace and much more interesting.  In the winter, however, some of those back roads aren't plowed.  So the freeway is a better choice.

This is a trip that I would love.  I have wanted to stay at a B&B and an Amish B&B sounds like a great time.  So far, we haven't ever taken a Fall Colors trip.

My daughter and son-in-law are picking me up in NJ and driving me to their home in Boston this year and we plan to take a scenic route to see the fall foliage on the way. The drive will take longer, but it will be more fun that way.

We try every year to take a least a day trip somewhere in the to experience the changing color and we have so many forest preserves that are only about 10 minutes away with walking trails that it easy to see this every day. We are planning to do a trip in a couple of weeks to Starved Rock State Park.  Is beautiful at all times of the year

It is a nice of year for a road trip, I will be going on a trip but need to fly to get there. I think short trips are really wonderful to see all the fall leaves and maybe stop and pick apples!

I wish I could take a trip but I definitely don't have the money for that right now.

I live in the Mountains of Georgia and I get to see it all from my Front Porch. It is so Beautiful how the Leaves change in the Fall. We do and are going to go further into the Mountains on my Husband's Vacation to see even more.
