I do not shop at this company's store (too expensive) but I find it interesting that they have such a business model! Anyone else have an interesting retail or wholesale tidbit to share?
As IKEA is owned by a Dutch company which is, in turn, owned by a Dutch non-for-profit, they’re able to get away with
paying very little tax. In fact, they only get taxed at 3.5%.
IKEA don’t simply rely on word-of-mouth of course, their marketing ideas have, at times, bordered on genius. One example is in France,
where they put a whole house worth of furniture on a rock-climbing wall. Sounds crazy but it certainly got a buzz!
