Do you have friends in your home town?
« on: February 08, 2020, 11:39:52 am »
I lived in the same town for about 30 years without making any friends in the town. All my friends were made at and through my job. But when I retired, I started joining clubs in the town like a book club and a knitting club and now I value these relationships as much or more than my old ones. Have you had a similar experience?

No, I really don't have friends in my home town but thank goodness my BFF lives about a hour away from me!

As a young person, I met most of my friends through school, of course. Then as I got to be an adult, most of my friends I met either in church or at work. Now that I'm retired, almost all of my friends are from my church, and we all live near each other, which is very nice.  :peace:

I have a couple friends I see regularly from my home town.  One of them is my best friend since eighth grade.

No, I don't care for anyone in my town. Everyone is nothing more than a bunch of bittersweet goofs who if you don't fit in with their criteria than you are the old man out.  :-X

Not any good friends. School friends are still around here and there but many of them left the city or the state.

To me, most of these peoples are acquaintances...not friends.

Sadly I can't say I even have any friends.  I was born and raised here and had a good friend in high school but spent years raising my family. Now my husband and parents are all gone and I am pretty much a loner.  I know I should go out and try and join up with someone or some group like you did rather than just staying at home - well maybe one day right?

I lived in the same town all my life up until November of 2019.  I do have friends in my hometown, but we are not very close anymore.

No my friends live out of state and one out of the country but she will be coming back within the next year but she will move wherever she gets a job so it won't necessarily be in my state.

Honestly I think the older you are the harder it is to make friends.  People already have "friends" and usually are not open to someone new joining their circle.  Honestly I think I would rather stay home than go out to meet up with groups or clubs.
