Auto Insurance
« on: August 02, 2020, 12:40:06 pm »
I got like a 20$ coronovirus credit on my auto insurance last month.  So today I went online to renew and find that my rate has increased by 62$.  Wow what a joke that covid credit turned out to be.  Since it is Sunday I can't find out what caused the big increase so I guess I will call them tomorrow and find out because nothing happened that I can figure out to cause an increase except that they are trying to cover what others may not be able to pay.  Have you had any increases in anything you weren't expecting.

No, I haven’t had any increases, but I did get a refund from the insurance company.  I forgot how much, but I think it was about 20% off.

I think a lot of these companies are gonna be raising their rates and use thew covid19 excuse for the increase. In some states, electric companies have been price gouging and it is wrong. I think if this keeps up there is gonna be a big rush for solar panels

Yes I have had a big increase in my health insurance which I wasn't expecting. I am a senior and I know they raise their rates as you get older but it seems like people are going to their doctors a lot less lately due to COVID-19 so I wasn't expecting such a big hit as the one I got.

I got a monthly credit back as well but my annual premium bill also went up. I can't tell if the annual premium increase was due to overall industry trend or not.

I haven't had a rate increase on either my home or auto rates.  In fact, what with a small credit on auto during the months of stay-at-home orders and ability to pay an entire year in cash on both policies, I am actually paying less for a year of insurance than I have in a long time.

I got refund too on car insurance and I had not gotten renewed yet, but my Home Insurance went up about 25%, no claims, I haven't have a Home insurance claim in like 5 years, it just did, which is crazy but since the Company I work for sent me name of 3 insurance companies that would give us employee discounts, I called one of them and the got me a $700 discount on Home Insurance and since I bundled home and car, I also got the car to go down about $50 a month.  I have been burned by  all of these insurance companies too much.  One time one of them raised me for a mistake on their system and told me that "is only $50 for 6 months we will lower them on your next renewal", yeah right I drop them like a hot potato and the next insurance gave me a much better rate.  Then I had my water tank exploding and had to put a claim for home insurance since everything had floated and the next renewal the Insurance Company Doubled the Home insurance so I shopped around and got a better deal somewhere else.

I received a credit when I renewed  auto insurance  last month; no increase and hope I don't see one. Given that most of us are not driving like before, I  think they should keep the rates down for awhile.

Another possible reason could be that aggressive drivers have become even more aggressive of late.  At least that is the case in our region.  Of course, aggressive driving can lead to more accidents, which we are seeing, and so, bango, the rates go up.

In answer to your question about price increases,  maybe a little bit here and there but for the most part, prices have been fairly steady.

 :cat:

Mine increased too. but it was due to the State raising the insurance amounts necessary for minimum coverage. Not my insurance company!  So with the $20 refund for not driving, I only paid about $50.00 more...next time it will be the full increase  >:(

Ask to the insurance company. Maybe it is your age or health condition.
Some people change insurance companies. Ask for a quote from
different companies. Shop around and compare.
