My best friend flaked on me!!!

So my best friend who has been my best friend since 3rd grade had been acting differently lately. I had invited her to several events. Each time she would say she wants to come and then flake out on me and leave me hanging. I know she has someone new she is dating so I just decided to give her space. I gave myself space from her for a month until she eventually called me up and we went back to talking. Recently I have been having issues with my new phone. She came over to a cookout I invited her to claiming that I blocked her. I asked why would I invite you to my home and my cookout if I felt this way? She left saying she would return but she never did. She was quite rude to me after and told me I was better off blocking her. Well 28 years of friendship is over. I been having a horrible week. If you read my other posts you will know just what I mean.

so sorry. We have had friends lie about us and to us and then blocked us on FB. We still are clueless on what we did. I gave up figuring it out.

I know it hurts to lose a friend, especially one for that long of time.  You did nothing wrong, just remember it’s her loss losing a friend not yours.  She doesn’t sound like a real friend.   I can’t imagine either of my two best friends acting like that.  If there would be a problem we would talk it out, not do what she did.  You don’t need her or the aggravation enjoy your babies

Cathy, I’m so very sorry to hear you lost your best friend in a car crash.  My heart goes out to you, I don’t know what I would do if I lost one of my two best friends.

If she was your best friend she would of been open with you and not so defensive. The key to friendships is honesty, just being real. Your friends should accept you as you and respect you. Any issues, let's talk. She obviously has things going on and I wouldn't call her back. She'll call you back. Next time try not too emotionally ready for her. I had a best friend in high school who ghosted me after 13 yrs she cut me off. And guess what? It was all over a misunderstanding, something she felt I did-I was acting a certain way when she never knew I had anxiety. I've had friends come and go because they weren't meant to be in my life. Yes, it hurts a lot and sometimes you want to reach out but I don't like rejection so I don't. That's why now I expect people to hurt me that way I won't hurt as much. Friends are hard to come by and they are RARE.  I learned to be comfortable with my own self and talk to God. I have maybe 2 or 3 friends and they never pressure me to do anything and they accept me for me. No need to talk on the phone every day or see one another. I respect them and they respect me. Don't worry about your former friend, you'll get over it.

People change over time.  Maybe she was looking for a reason to end the friendship.  Anytime someone is acting funny a red flag should go up.

I'm so sorry you were treated like that. I wish you love and healing. Losing long-term friendships is hard. I was ghosted by one and I just don't know what to do. I just tell myself I'm better off without her.
