I already have a job!!!

Don`t cast judgement on other people that do trust in God.

Judging from a lot of previous posters, I can probably say we wouldn't if the religious would just shut up about it.

I don`t force anyone to trust in God, that will be your job to put your trust in him.
Putting my trust in an invisible man in the sky is about as plausible as having an imaginary friend as a designated driver.
Why does it have to be our job to trust in YOUR god? If that's true for your god what about the other ones? What makes your god so much greater then others? So our job can't be to trust in the other gods? What if someone told you the same thing about the god of a different religion? Hey dexterjrh, not forcing or anything but it's your job to trust in Shiva. Now go out there and work it! Do you accept that? Or are you just as annoyed when "your god" is replaced by someone elses?

I feel that certain religions are a lot like urban legends. Like if you drink soda and pop rocks your stomach will explode, but more like if you don't believe in "jesus" your soul will explode. If you don't follow something bad will happen to you. What kind of religious tactic is that? If I feel it is the right way for me to follow then I should be allowed to follow it, I shouldn't be scared into it. (Or killed because I refuse either)

Scared straight religion.

That is a good point.....If your spouse or S.O. threatened you with pain, suffering, death, eternal damnation etc, would you love them more and feel you were superior to others who say he is abusive, or would you, call the cops, kick their *bleep* to the curb and get a restraining order?

why should I judge anyone. they have their own way of thinking and I have my was of thinking. Just like I don't judge people on their religion I wouldn't want them to judge me.

I don't judge.  To each their own. Everyone is different in their own right and free to pursue their religion as they see fit.  I don't care for people that do judge.  Everyone has the right to believe or not believe in which ever religion they were raised in or that they choose to follow.  What ever gets you through day and keeps you at peace with your God.

I was raised Roman Catholic, now I believe in this vague metaphysical notion of 'nature'. To me, the point of religion is to seek out a purpose behind our existence and explain the world around us. For that reason, I believe it's a completely personal thing - what provides comfort and spiritual satisfaction to one is not guaranteed to do the same for another. There's countless different paths to the same thing.

Like most others here, my problem is with extremists. You're going to hell if you don't accept Jesus as your saviour. Death to those who oppose Islam. That sort of bollocks. This intolerance only breeds more intolerance - not to mention inherently hypocritical: so much for loving thy neighbour as thyself.

I think it is wrong to judge someone for what they believe. There are so many different religions that we can't really be 100% sure that yours is the right one. So I try not to judge others for their beliefs.

:angel11: Tolerance is the key word. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and religious practices as long as they do not hurt themselves or others.

I think I am very entitled to practice this Ceremony as well if I choose to.

I cannot judge, for I am a sinner just like everyone else, no one is better than another, while you might be doing something wrong, i could point it out, but then I am doing something completely different wrong, maybe it wasn't the same thing you were doing. Lets say I judge and say you are prideful, that is judging, then I turn right around and get jealous over something, see, we are all sinners, doesn't mean we all sin the same.
God gives us His Mercy and Grace and forgives us through Jesus Christ on the Cross, God looks at us, and now see's the Blood of Jesus which cleansed us, how would it be right for me to turn around and say to someone you are not clean? I was not either.

so what would be the harm in listening to other possibilities/theories...?

Ignorant people. Some people don't understand this concept in the least-- it's like speaking an alien language to them. It is impossible to get them out of their box and see reality. Some people get so far into their beliefs that they will kill others who have different opinions or beliefs. Unfortunately this has been the case for mankinds entire history and it still goes on today.

I have no problem with spirituality. Sharing what you believe with someone else who is open-minded is one of the most satisfying experiences; especially when it makes them or you think about their/your own beliefs and what can be integrated. But for the most part I think it should be kept to yourself until you know someone more. Far too many people end up forcing their nonsensical opinions down peoples' throats and the people line up to get thrown into the machine.

I'm agnostic and look down on all religions. It may sound cruel, but when you understand that it does not just influence your spiritual side and influences your political, social, sexual, and moral sides, it can turn people into close-minded ethnocentric idiots who won't accept anything that's not their religion. Pathetic.

"There's no problem with having your head in the clouds as long as your feet are on the ground"

I pretty much agree completely with this post. I am agnostic and feel that people who are slaves to their religion, it effects how they deal with everything in their daily lives and they are closed minded to anything that goes against their belief system. I grew up in a Catholic household and deal with near weakly abuse about how I should return to God or else burn in Hell for eternity. Oh, joy I get to go someplace I don't even believe exists. However, somehow despite all I put up with, I still consider myself very open about people and their religions. If someone who is religious can show me the same respect by not trying to "Show me the way to God" or damning me then I'll give them the same respect and open-mindedness in return.  I can accept people who need religion in their lives so long as they can accept me for NOT needing it to live a happy, healthy, productive life.

Everyone judges something everyday. We judge whom will be our friends. We judge clothes. We judge various services.

Some things are obvious and not judgement, that's just the way it is.

When Jesus said, "Judge not lest ye be judged"  He is not telling us not to recognize the truth from an error.  Later on in the verse, Jesus said,

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves." How would you know they were false prophets--if you didn't recognize them or discern that they were false. This is a case where you judge  whether they are true or not. How can you tell? By the Spirit of God.
Jesus further said, "You shall know them by their fruits...Every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth corrupt fruit."
"Wherefore by their fruits, you shall know them."

Jesus is not saying it is wrong to correct someone, but the key is in how the correction is done. He would that if a person had to correct someone, for them to do it in love. However, if it is done with a critical spirit--that is not love and that overcritical person should first look at their own shortcomings.  You cannot rationalize your guilt and wrong deeds, but condemn someone else for theirs in the next breath.

For those who scorn the words of life that Christians have or take the time to share with them, Jesus said, Do not cast your pearl before swine.
Proverbs 23:9 says, "Do not speak to a fool for he will scorn the wisdom of your words."  There were some scavenger dogs that entered into the gates of
Jerusalem, and these hungry stray dogs growled at those who walked by and at those who fed them. (IVP Commentary)
For Christians, as we continue to speak the word of God  to those that do not believe--at times this is what we receive. People "growling" at us.

What does Jesus say, "Shake the dust off your feet."

Rightfully so.  Everyone knows you're there.  We can't drive down a street without seeing seven Christian churches in a 2 mile span.  The religion is consistently in the faces of everyone, every where they turn.  We're not ignorant of your presence.

We simply do not care.  If we cared and wanted to be a part of it, we would walk into one of your 8 billion churches and start taking part.  Keep that in mind.
