Off-Topic / Re: crediting

While I am aware of the non-crediting issue going on with Tap, I have continued to check every few hours to see if Tap's surveys have begun crediting again.  So, I'll go ahead and attempt a few surveys and then check my account.

Today I got a Survey Monkey survey seeking feedback on what you know to be true/false about COVID-19 and other questions concerning your outlook on the pandemic.  I completed it and it paid me 13˘ (but not "crediting" to my FC account).

However, I am actually glad to take a survey like that because I want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.  I don't like wasting my time nor do I like not getting paid, but, under the circumstances, I'm glad I got to take that particular survey -- even if it turns out to be a freebie on me.

Thank you, Bostonphil, for speaking up for all of us.  This sounds like the same-old runaround from Tap in which they appear to be the last to know what is happening with the FusionCash account.  Hopefully, once Sarah gave you "the one-time credit" she actually understood what you wrote and has passed it on.

Of course, this is not the first time the arrangement made between FusionCash and Tap Research has been forgotten (recalling vividly the year 2017 {specifically, a couple of months during the summer} when FusionCash members were receiving 25˘ each time they disqualified for a Tap survey -- and I will continue to believe that deal was a benefit to Tap as they were changing their system to recognize and pay for the time spent attempting to qualify for surveys).  I've lost count now, but we've seen something like what is happening now (non-crediting) at least once every year since 2017.  Thankfully, it has always gotten resolved.  Fingers crossed.

Off-Topic / Re: Kenny Rogers Has Passed at 81

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Kenny Rogers.  He made an indelible mark on music.  Naturally, I started to seek out and read everything that is being written now as well as hitting YouTube to listen to some of my personal favorites (I highly recommend looking up on YouTube his song "Ruby" performed when he was with The First Edition in 1969 -- it will put a chill straight up your spine as you listen to that deep, soulful voice of his).

Here is the blurb from USA Today (Entertainment) written by Juli Thanki (Nashville, TN) on 3-22-2020:

Rogers notched his first solo top 20 country hit with 1975's "Love Lifted Me." Other hits followed, including the chart-toppers "Lucille," "Daytime Friends" and "Love or Something Like It."

In late 1978, Rogers released a single called "The Gambler," written by an unknown songwriter in his 20s named Don Schlitz. The song tells the story of a chance meeting on a train.

Rogers wasn't the first to record it, but his rendition became the most enduring version. "The Gambler" won him a Best Male Country Vocal Performance Grammy, and became his signature song. It also led to a starring role in a series of made-for-television "Gambler" movies.

Off-Topic / Re: Office Space the Movie
« on: March 22, 2020, 11:56:07 pm »Message ID: 1317839
Office Space is a movie released at beginning of '99 that came about when animator, Mike Judge, compiled four animated short films about an office worker named Milton that he created from his own foray as a temp worker and during a stint as a Silicon Valley engineer for three months in the '80s.  While this movie disappointed at the box office, it got repeat airings on Comedy Central, and its home video sales increased enough so that it became a cult film.  It satirizes typical software companies of the '90s and the lives of its fed-up office workers.  In short, it's hilarious!

Judge is well known for his cartoon characters Beavis & Butt-Head and as co-founder of cartoon, King of the Hill, which mainly used the suburb of Richardson (where I worked for a number of years) located adjacent to Dallas, TX as the basis for his fictional community of Arlen, TX used in the show.

This is an interesting topic to ponder.  No doubt, changes in our behaviors are being observed and will likely cause some to question why we've allowed some of the things we've been doing to go on.  Hopefully, these 'silver linings' will bring about new solutions or improvements that no one has given much thought to.  Maybe a few of these adjustments arising out of social distancing that work better for all of us will stick around?

I'm just viewing this situation from the position of the glass half full which would suggest an opportunity has been presented here.  :-\

Perhaps this movie could help those faced with working at home due to COVID-19?  Some of those in-office behaviors should transfer easily to the home environment.  And I am trying to be funny so we can all laugh a little to release the tension of these trying times.

The temp was nice outside today (upper 70s) so due to that I had to take advantage while I can because the pre-spring storms have already begun.  Yard work is much easier if you can catch the early undesirable growth sooner rather than later.  I'm not practicing social distancing with my weeds and dandelions.  LOL  :angry7:

I also find myself looking forward to "quiet time" spent on this site.  I think it is comforting to have this forum to share good times and bad with the members here because we have similar goals that bond us together.  This is a unique place.

Las Vegas being dark is hard to imagine.  However, in light of what's going on it's better to be safe than sorry.  When you consider that it is a 'destination' city for tourism and many conventions I feel sure that swift action had to be taken for the greater good.  Hope all goes well once this virus is nipped in the bud.  :rainbow:
