I love baked potatoes too.  I put cottage cheese on mine - better for me than sour cream.  My favorite meal is a baked potato with cottage cheese and a side salad.

There is a little restaurant where we go shopping called something different, and we go about 3-4 times a year. I get a big jacked up baked potato. It has of course some butter, pepper jack cheese, chedder cheese, bacon bits and green chili.  It is so big that I end up bringing half home with me. I only order this 1 out of 3 times the rest of the time I get a salad.

know I should stay away from the "nightshade" vegees - but I do love a good baked potato - so many options with the taters!   8)

Baked potatoes are so good.  My favorite topping is butter and sometimes bacon bits, this I do in moderation.  ;)

Sweet potatoes have more nutrients than regular potatoes. Bake, steam or fry them!

The baked potato itself is not too bad, it is everything that you put on it.  When you add a lot of butter, sour cream, bacon and cheese it adds a lot of calories.

I like baked potatoes.  I prefer a baked sweet potato over a baked potato.  I like bacon bits and ranch dressing on a regular baked potato.  I loved it when I was a child because my grandmother would bake sweet potatoes in their own skin.  I would take it, put butter on it and eat it.  Yummy!!   :rainbow:

Are baked potatoes healthy? I usually add butter, cheese, bacon bits and sour cream. I add lots of it. Do you think that everything i add lessens the nutritional value? I kinda think so but i lve it so much. Baked potatoes are my favorite food right about now.
Potatoes are good for you as long as you prepare them properly. Boiled and baked potatoes are healthful -- French fries and potato chips are not.

Potatoes got a bad reputation due to the popularity of low-carb diets and the Paleolithic diet. They're high in starchy carbohydrates and low in protein.

That doesn't mean that potatoes are bad for you, though, because they're still a good source of fiber, potassium and vitamin C, especially if you eat the skin.

One medium plain potato has about 150 calories, so you have to keep that in mind if you are watching your weight. Potatoes are often served with high-calorie and high-fat toppings like butter, margarine, sour cream, or gravy. These can add extra calories.

We love baked potatoes here.  Have never tried them with cottage cheese will have to try them that way.  Baked sweet potatoes are great too.

I don't see why baked potatoes aren't healthy. As long as you are not frying anything. But I would say eat it sparingly. Don't eat it everyday. Your body will need some vegetable to balance some of that off. That's my own opinion.

Since potatoes are a starch for some who have to watch what they eat to a "T" yeah they could tip scales.  I agree with so many others on this though, it's baked, not fried.  True butter and sour cream can increase fat content... there are some benefits to sour cream.  Everything in moderation is what I say.
