Do  you take over the counter medicine to resolve your illness or do you go the doctor?

I take mostly vitamins and minerals and avoid the doctor as much as possible. If it's something I can't fix myself within a reasonable amount of time, I'll resort to seeing a physician.

They'll kill you if you let them. Most of them are really arrogant and think you know nothing about your own body or anything related to keeping your own self healthy. It's mostly bottom line to them. Profit is king.

I'm not disrespecting all of them. There is always a physician here and there that does a body good. I just haven't found many myself. And I feel strongly that the body can heal itself of a lot of things on its own if you're basically healthy to start with.

It seems to me that the only thing that doctors have learned is attempting to fix issues after the fact. They are not believers in anything natural preventing diseases before they happen.

If there happens to be doctor on the Fusion Cash forum, I apologize.  :-X  But if you are on this forum site, you must not be doing very well financially, you know. I'm not a hater, so I don't hate you. Not at all. You're a product of the system.

Agree with you.  Another concern I have with doctors is the over prescribing of antibiotics.   We have a friend who is also a family physician who is fabulous.  We go to him for issues that require a doctor.  But otherwise we try to remain as healthy as possible by taking care of ourselves to avoid doctor visits.  I am thankful for the doctors we have had to see but we're fortunate to have ones that agree with our thoughts and most importantly "listen".

I always take otc medicine before I run to the doctor because 99% of the time the doctor can't do anything anyway!

Considering I'm on several medications I can't take the majority of OTC meds, so no, I guess not, lol. I'm still young so a little cold isn't enough to risk feeling worse.

Yes, I try to avoid taking prescription medicine because one can get immune to it or addicted... I recently had a chest, cough congestion. Took Mucinex Dm 12 hr and it took longer to get rid of the cold but it did the job! Also had Robutussum for the cough. It was a bad cough I could not shake. Stay well people and sanitize!! :)

I usually try remedies which can be purchased over the counter than going to the doctors. However if I am not successful at treating things myself, then I will make a doctor's appointment. I do this for numerous reasons but he main one is because as a human race, we are getting too reliant upon antibiotics. They are working less well for us because Doctors are too quick to prescribe medications and so we are becoming resilient to them. They really should be prescribed as a last resort when home remedies and over the counter drugs have failed. Just my opinion.

I take over the counter medicines like Advil and Tylenol for stuff I wouldn't go to a doctor for, like headaches for example. Also take and over the counter for heartburn, which I also wouldn't go to a doctor for. For anything worse than those two things I would go to a doctor.

You are so right about antibiotics. Thanks for bringing this issue up. I used to be a medical transcriptionist and it broke my heart to hear how many times antibiotics were prescribed.  :(

It also broke my heart to see how often doctors put tubes in children's ears. :'(  Too easy to do the same thing for everyone. Surgery should always be a last resort.

Do  you take over the counter medicine to resolve your illness or do you go the doctor?

I don't have insurance that pays for everything and I am not rich so yes like normal people I take over the counter meds.  Besides that if an over the counter product would take care of it then why in the world would you run to the doctor?  Or worse the ER?
