Debate & Discuss / Puppy Poop Power!
« on: October 04, 2010, 07:20:38 am »Message ID: 248530
A Massachusetts artist, who doesn't own a dog, came up with a visionary art project that saw dog owners picking up their dog's do-do and turning it into an 'eternal' flame.
The temporary Park Spark Project was funded by MIT's Council for the Arts and the Cambridge Arts Council after artist Matthew Mazzotta came up with the idea, reported PhysOrg. The project, the very first Park Spark, was installed in a dog park in Cambridge, MA on a temporary basis. Dog owners were given special biodegradable bags to use, scooped after their dogs as they normally did, and popped the puppy poop into the methane digester. After cranking the wheel to stir things up, the pup and people-powered digester created and captured methane gas that powered a gas lamp in the dog park.
The Park Spark's Facebook page explains, saying
"Anywhere people are walking dogs can be a source of heat and light by introducing a Methane Digester into the equation. As long as people are walking dogs and throwing away dog waste, a flame can burn."

Debate & Discuss / Parenting Or Lack Thereof

I walk almost every day with my child.  Today we were walking and some kids started shouting obscene things at us from their house. Being a toddler, my kid didn't understand a word of it but naturally I left. They shouted at us until we were out of sight.  Had I been by myself I wouldn't have cared, but shouting obscenities at a small child? This sort of thing never ceases to amaze me. I shouldn't expect too much as these are most likely, the same children who amuse themselves by picking on a handicapped resident. One can only imagine the rock star parents that produced such little angels.

Debate & Discuss / Cthulhu Returns!
« on: July 21, 2010, 02:45:33 pm »Message ID: 210363
Some people enjoyed this, so here we go again....

10 Reasons to Believe in Cthulhu

1) The psychic octopus.

2) If it's in a book it must be true.

3) This morning I found a penny. It must be his doing.

4) We have all seen the signs of his awakening and impending judgment. Storms, earthquakes,

disease, another crappy M. Night Shyamalan movie. Wake up to the truth!

5) The oil spill. He is NOT happy with us drilling holes in his ocean and eating his sea friends.

Soon he will come to shore and pass judgment on all our seafood restaurants. Quake with fear Red Lobster.

6) If Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt don't adopt a latino by the end of 2013, the seas will rise and

cover the earth until only Walmart remains. -The prophet Wiki Pedia

7) People need to believe in something. Why not believe in a giant creature with the body of a man and

a cephalopod head?

8) The vuvuzela. Surely that annoying horn can summon something from the depths of darkness.

9) There are many like-minded people who agree with me. Strength in numbers.

10) I don't need a tenth reason. That's how sure I am.

If you disagree with me, you're wrong. When the great one comes all non-believers will drown in his wake. Their souls shall

be sent to Davy Jones'Locker and forced to watch Pirates of the Caribbean 3 for all eternity. Yes I eat seafood and no, that does NOT

make me a hypocrite. As long as I pray for forgiveness every time, I'm free to do it again and never be held accountable. It's awesome.

Debate & Discuss / Is Star Worship Out of Control?
« on: July 03, 2010, 08:10:23 pm »Message ID: 201793
I notice a lot of "news" about famous people floating around.  I'm constantly bombarded with headlines like "Why Angelina cut Shiloh's Hair." Who needs to know why this woman cut her child's hair?  Why is this considered news?  With the addition of social networking sites, fans follow their favorite stars and find out everything they can. What the person eats, where they live, if they sneezed while on the toilet today. I think it's insane. What do you think?
