« on: August 31, 2010, 05:41:32 pm »
I personally dont like when people drive and text especially if they cant drive already. My friend almost got into an accident over texting and driving i just think you can wait to text just drive the car. Its not that serious because some people act like the ycant go without there phone ridiculous.

:o I don't think those people should carry a driver's license, until they learn to be responsible and quite alert while driving.

I think if its that important to send a message you can also take into consideration all the other drivers on the road who feel it is important to make their destination in one piece,,, Pull over if your going to text.

not a good idea but what about us women putting on make-up on the way to work.  been there done that... but safely!
while driving it's best to keep your eyes on the road.

I say No on the text and driving. back in the days if you wanted to call someone you had to pull over and find a pay phone. Them days are long and gone. But text and driving, come on you have to pay attention to the road.

thats a total no no...if you want to text just simple pull over to the side of the road and do your thing, if its impossible to wait until you reach your destination..........PLEASE REMEMBER THERE IS NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR LIFE

I CAN NOT STAND WHEN PEOPLE TEXT AND DRIVE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE FOR THEM AND OTHERS. THEY NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT DOING THIS WHILE DRIVING COULD HAVE SEVERE CONSEQUENCES. WHEN THEY ARE TEXTING THEY TEND TO HOLD OTHER MOTORISTS UP FROM REACHING THEIR DESTINATION. THEY NEED TO HOLD OFF ON THE TEXTING AND JUST DRIVE THEIR VEHICLE IN A SAFE MANNER FOR THE SAKE OF THEMSELVES AND OTHERS.

You can't possibly get a text that is so important that you need to answer it while you are driving...pull the freaking car over!!

;)   When you are driving...that is all you should be doing. Your own safety and the safety of others should come first.

As far as nature goes, humans aren't ever supposed to be traveling at higher speeds than maybe 20mph. We haven't evolved into having a fear of high speed on the roads yet, so it doesn't seem like a big deal to turn our attention to other things while we'redriving 70.  :dontknow: It's really dangerous, though, and it's so unnecessary.

I don't drive and text the same time. I don't appreciate it if other people do it.

In the state I live in it is against the law to use a cell phone while driving either talking or texting. I think that says it all.

I think the penalty should be the same as it is for a DUI. It is MORE DANGEROUS, I believe. They just made it against the law here in Georgia. Not a minute too soon.

Texting while driving should be a crime punishable by jail time! I know it sounds rather harsh, but think about it. A nice, family of four driving down the road, minding their own business. A mother, father, son and daughter. Then you've got your compulsive texter, who doesn't have any regard for anyone else on the road. While trying to text, this driver loses control of the car and winds up hitting the family of four, resulting in a fatal accident. It could of all been avoided if the texter would just put down the phone. Maybe if we make the punishment more severe, people will think twice before texting while driving.
