trouble with jealous co-workers...?
« on: March 19, 2011, 06:26:48 pm »
so, i work in retail and was promoted within my
company to a different location and its a fun,
creative job that i can put the skills i learned in
college toward...and after 4 years of being at the
bottom end of the retail world, i'm excited about it!

but i seem to be running into issues with my new
co-workers. i've been nothing but completely nice
to them (on purpose too, just to see if it would make
a difference) but they still seem to think that i think
i'm above them because of this promotion. they've
joked that i have a "big head" - which i don't. i've never
once bragged or have even thought about bragging...
if anything, i empathize WITH them that i have the fun
part of the job...

how do i deal with this? kindness only kills so many times ::)

Jealousy raises an ugly head when your co workers learned of your promotion. Try to be understanding but if it continues, get with your supervisor to stop the continuing issue dead on.

Tips: dealing with jealous people:

1. investigate the all new co-workers in your new section (take note of all information that might help you if the jealous mob attacks)
2. Make sure you know all rules & regulations & follow it. In other words cover your butt.
3. Ignore the taunts & jokes about you. When they do that redirect co worker back to work.
4. Don't waste time being polite be professional when around these people.
5. Do your job, help out your co workers that need it. But don't waste your time worrying about your co-workers thinking that your big -headed
6. You are giving those people the power to hurt you. Remember this quote: NOBODY CAN MAKE YOU FEEL INFERIOR WITHOUT YOU CONSENT.

Those co-workers isn't worth you time. Take back your consent & take back your power.
