Nintendo to replace Wii in 2012?
« on: April 26, 2011, 11:47:12 pm »
Nintendo says it will reveal the new system at the E3 expo in Los Angeles in early June.

I was seriously thinking of buying the Wii after playing a few games on my older brother's Wii tonight. Now, Im gonna save my money until Nintendo replace Wii in 2012. Hopefully, the new gaming system will be better :)

Interesting, I am sure my son would like to know more. My 11 yr. old son has a Wii, Nintendo Ds lite and now the new Nintendo 3ds.

I've never been a big fan of the Wii.  With sales declining, it only makes sense that Nintendo is looking forward.  I wonder what impact, if any, this will have on Sony and Microsoft's plans for their next gen systems?  If I'm not mistaken, both had tentatively targeted 2014 for the PS4 and new XBox.  Does this announcement push their plans forward?

Nintendo has outsold microsoft and sony like crazy. The new system will sell and have great first party games. if only it will get third party support. Graphics aren't everything but they will at least supposidly own that category for at least two years according to rumors. I just hope it caters to the hardcore but does what nintendo does by making something unique. If it has a high def metroid then i'm in.

E3 is June 7-9th, so almost a month  away! I like playing with the Wii. I have a feeling this will be an upgraded system much like how the Xbox 360 went from Xbox 360 to the Xbox 360 slim with the Kinect adapter. It could be the same system with different look and different add ons, but then again it could be entirely new. We shall see.

I would guess they are going to give it HD graphics. Looks like the regular Wii have dropped alot in price. I think about $170 now. I wonder how much the new ones will be.

I love my Wii, but missing out on things like the new Mortal Kombat really suck. Just for this I was thinking of getting a PS3.

i was all nintendo until around 2009 when i got an xbox 360 for christmas and i dont think i will get the new system. there games are too family oriented now and the games that arent family oriented arent that great anymore compared to what you can get on other systems. the main games that are really keeping nintendo alive in my opinion are mario games and pokemon games.
