does it ever happen to you? your sitting at a red light and it finally turns green. do you start off right away? I hate when it turns green and the one behind starts sitting on their horn, all the more I just sit there...Mom and Dad always said to not start off right away in case somone is going through the red light...what do you do?  :dontknow:

it's always good to wait a sec or two - some people are just impatient - especially when the person in front of them has a stick shift (especially on a hill!)

I generally check both ways to be sure it's clear.

I always look to make sure no one is going to come through the red light. I know it would be there fault but I rather avoid the accident in the first place. I dont think It would be easy for me to get into the driver seat if I got hit while driving. it took me about 3 weeks to get in a vehicle after i was a passenger in an accident

Honestly it depends on the red light - if it's a bad one that people usually run, then I wait.  Others I'll go right through.  Normally I'm not first at a light anyway.

I'm already looking around at the other sides of the road when I see their lights turn yellow (or their crosswalk sign turn red), so I'm ready to gun it when it turns green.  Granted, the gunning it only lasts until I reach the speed limit, which always amuses my younger brothers.  My fiance complains that I drive like a granny (because I do the speed limit all the time lol ).

I took a defensive driving course to save money on insurance. One thing they said was to check the intersection and wait 3 seconds before going.

My personal philosophy about traffic lights is this,

Green means go.
Yellow means go faster.
Red means Watch this y'all.
I was lying in bed the other night, looking up at the stars, and thinking, "Where in the heck is my roof?"

I actually have been at a red light and the second it turned green, the guy behind me laid on his horn. I put my car in park and got out, went to his window and asked if he needed anything.

I check both ways to make sure a car is not speeding to get through the intersection.

After nearly being hit a couple times, I always check to make sure no more cars are coming through the intersection.
