My feeling on this is if you have sex and conceive a child you are responsible for that child in every aspect.  Step up and take responsibility financially and be a parent to the child!!  Why should children have to pay for the actions of a deadbeat?  That's just wrong.

If you contributed to making the baby and your no longer with the girl then yes you should have to help her pay for stuff. Imagine if you were in that position of the mother, and the father skipped out and left you with a helpless little thing.

My ex husband left me and my son for a piece of "tail".  He pays child support but doesn't have a relationship with our son by his own choice.  He's got issues with addiction and has never really been there to be a father to our son which is very sad and unfortunate.  I have never tried to stand in the way of him being apart of his son's life and I get the blamed I'm turning our son against him when he brought all of this on himself.  He never took the time to call, visit, or anything.  Two weeks ago, he went to see our son at my dad's house and my son told him he didn't want to talk or have anything to do with him because he was mad at him for never being there.  I can't blame my son for how he feels because I know he hurts from all of it.

There are people who won't provide for their children, and as a parent, unless they sign over legal rights, they Need to be supportive! It's not just an emotional fufillment they need to provide, or a physical one; Children need things. I'm a pro-child support kind of girl, because it helps the child full force  :)

If you have a child, you should support it ~ without being "made" to!
Have a wonderful day!

You shouldn't have to make someone take care of their children, but unfortunately no one has any responsibility anymore. I am a young, single mother. My ex pays child support of his own free will, without anyone having to force him. I don't understand how you can have a child, leave it and not care enough about that child to help support it.

I agree - I don't understand someone who can have a child and not care for it.

My father was non-existent. No support whatsoever. I believe support is needed to raise that child properly. On either side, mother or father. It is NOT the government's responsibility to pay for these children. No child should be without. If you can't afford the children, cover it up! Plain and simple. ;)
