What do Vegans do for Thanksgiving?
« on: November 21, 2011, 04:54:05 pm »
How do Vegans celebrate Thanksgiving? Since they can't eat meat, and if it wasn't clear, turkeys are indeed meat, what do they replace the turkey with.

Some people do not celebrate Thanksgiving solely because of turkey eating, but that's a big part of the holiday based on history.

So, I'm curious, what do Vegans (those who celebrate Thanksgiving) cook and serve?

What they always do... complain about how horrible people who eat meat are and try to make us all as miserable as they are.

More meat for me!

Some years ago, I encountered a vegetarian who declared that she would eat nothing that had a face.  There were a few vegetable trays set out on the table for 'dinner' so, I had an inspiration.  Proceding to arrange some tomatoes, carrot strips and cheese into facial features on a plate, I stepped back and sat down to await the impending discovery.

Once the hostess noticed the special plate, she turned around holding it and rolled her eyes.
I remarked, "so now you'll starve or, concede the point?"
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

There is Vegetarian meats at certain grocery stores that we eat like vegie chicken made out of soybeans.  Tofu is another option we use.  But mostly its vegetables and fruit and we even have pies.

Why would anyone make fun or rude comments about vegans or vegitarians. We all have a right to choose what we eat....I do find the maturity level low here. My husband and I are not vegitarians, but my daughter is by her own choice. We still have traditional Thanksgiving turkey, but there is also plenty of other food and pasta cooked. By the way, she never complains, preaches, or tells people not to eat meat, so for those of you with the rude comments, well, you are clueless to what you are saying.  :angry7: Enjoy your holiday.

i agree with you. i have to wonder if snide comments like
that come from their ill experiences with vegan/vegetarians?
some can be arrogant about it, but of course not everyone
who chooses that lifestyle are. i think some people have a bias
against others based on their personal feelings toward ONE
person and think that's how everyone is...?

that said, i love my meat &have known a handful of vegs,
none of who have looked down on me for it

green bean casserole, potatos, stuffing... there's lots of choices
for them.
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

That is a very interesting question! I know there are many sides to eat, but as a main course it seems that tofu products are the only option.

And rude comments or not, I don't call it immature to voice your opinion, it's what this forum is for.
