Magic Jack

Has anyone tried this thing? I was wondering if it actually worked well? Can you hear the person on the phone? Or is it choppy or what?

I have it.  It drops calls and it fads in and out.  Not sure if it is my internet or what.  Friends that I know have it never complain about it.

I have had one for years and it always worked fine. The last couple of years I just use it for voice mail so I can publish my phone number online and not be hounded, so it's not even plugged in. If I happen to need another line, I plug it in and use it. At around $2 a month, I haven't found a comparable voice mail service that emails me a recording as soon as the caller hangs up.

It's a device you plug into your USB port that allows you to make unlimited phone calls in the USA and Canada for a couple of bucks a month. Do a Google search for it.

I was intrigued by the MagicJack in the past, but I never committed. I still have a landline, but otherwise outside of my mobile phone I also use Google Voice periodically, which seems to work good.

Wow, very inventive. I will have to check it out... I do wish I was creative enough to come up with one of these products that everyone uses and seems so obvious you wonder how nobody thought of them before.

Thanks for all the information. I was considering Magic Jack myself and am going to research it further. Sounds pretty good for the price.

My Dad had Magic Jack and it really wasn't any good.....You couldn't hear anyone at all and it was just not worth the money at all.
