What kind of salt do you use?
« on: March 13, 2012, 05:01:21 pm »
What kind of salt do you use when you cook or bake? I rarely use common table iodize salt like Morton’s because they are chemically processed. I used to use Redmond Real Sea Salt but have switched to using Himalayan natural rock salt. I would have continued to use Redmond Real if I haven’t lost it in the kitchen cabinet.

I use Sea salt. To me it has a better taste than table salt does.

I use sea salt, just seems to have a better taste and also like the pink salt also. You don't use nearly as much.

I have to watch my salt because of medical condition, but I do sometimes use the lite salt with half of the salt that regular salt has..If I absolutely have to have salt on something or I need a little extra, I use Morton's salt substitute.

I try to use sea salt most of the time because of the added minerals. But don't forget that your body needs the iodine. You just have to remember that no matter what type of salt you use it still has the same amount of sodium. None of them are 'good' for you.

I just go with what they have at the store for cheap. I never thought about being picky about it.

I just use stuff from the store. Sea Salt is good but expensive. Seems all the natural foods that don't use chemicals in the can or in the field cost three times as much as other stuff. If they are not using all the bad stuff then the prices should be lower and fairer so the poorer folks can afford to buy the products.

I would never use a salt or sugar substitute because I really don't trust them.  If something's going to kill me, I prefer to know what it is.

I try not to use too much salt (it makes my hands and feet swell, I hate it) but do use sea salt occasionally. I like how it puts that crispy, golden brown finish on my meats (and the flavor).

I don't really like salt or use it. Everything already has salt in it, it seems like. I'm torn between sea salt and regular table salt. Sea Salt is great and gives you that "natural" feeling. But also I have taken into consideration that although regular table salt is chemically processed, it also contains iodine. Your body needs iodine and some do more than others. So I don't know how to feel about it.

The only time I wqould use salt is if it was required in baking.  I don't use pepper on anything, either.
