I finally said something
« on: January 27, 2014, 04:09:38 pm »
My granddaughter hasn't been wanting to go to school lately.  I just figured it was just a long day getting on the bus at 7 am and not getting home until 4 pm.  So, I started watching and talking with her more about it.  Well  what happened thursday was finally the last straw.  I had sent her to school with bags of cheeseballs that was needed for a class party.  Remember on the bus at 7 am.  The kids on the bus took the cheese *bleep* and ate them on the ride to school.  I finally found out friday afternoon that this had happened.  So I sent a letter to the teacher informing her of was happening.  Now the plan is that the school has put 2 high school girls in charge of monitoring what happens with my granddaughter while she is on the bus.  The one thing that I didn't get cleared up was my granddaughter is among the first to get on the bus before these girls and it seems that they only ride in the afternoons anyway.  I have made other arrangements prior to this am to have someone take her to school.  I still think that is to long of a day for a kindergartner.  It also gives me another hour of sleep in the am.

i din't even go to to kindergarten, neither did my brothers or cousins.  my kids went to kindergarten 3 days a week for half a day in the 1990's.  these kids are pushed to the limit now a days.  my 8 year old grandson started year round school.  the public was never offered a vote on this, which is crap!!!  they are expected to learn and grow up too quick and to heck with just being kids.  what a shame :bad:

That is a shame, You have to teach little kids while they are young not to bully others because as they get older it only gets worst. I hope things improve for your granddaughter. Did the teacher at least talk to the parents of the kids who were bothering her?

Glad you investigated until you got some answers.
Sounds like the bus driver is asleep at the wheel, no pun intended.

Poor baby.  When I was in school we only had half day kindergarten.  7-4 is a long day.

Wow .. sorry to hear that this has happened to your granddaughter .. when I went to kindergarten we only did half days which I think is plenty to just get these kids used to going to school for the first year.  I think full day kindergarten is a little too much for a 5 year old.

How terrible that this happened. Bullying is TERRIBLE and I am glad that more and more schools are putting an end to it. I am sorry your grand daughter had to deal with that.  :(

Year round school is not that big of a deal.  They go the same amount of days they just have more breaks through out the year instead of a longer break in the summer.

I love how everyone wants to blame the bus driver.  He is probably busy watching the road and driving the bus.  He cannot know everything that goes on back in the bus if no one tells him.  If the girl didn't scream or cause a ruckus when they took her cheese puffs (I use that word for a reason lol) then he couldn't know they were hers.  Or that they were taken away from her.
