I want a fresh start!
« on: February 05, 2014, 08:23:35 pm »
I want to just pack up and move out of state!! Preferably south, like the Carolinas, Georgia, maybe northern Florida! Can't stand this COLD, FRIGID, SNOWY, ICY, RAINY, weather we have been having! I could sell my house and BUY two houses down south! Why is NJ so expensive anyway!!?? Then I would need a job down south....uuugh! lol...decisions, decisions!  :silly:

You would love the south!  Come to NC!  North Carolina is the most wonderful state in the US!

Go for it! I moved from Southern California to Oregon in 1969 by packing all I could into a pickup truck and 4 X 8 trailer, then sold everything else in a garage sale. If I could go back I would do it all again.

I left Mississippi in 1978 at the age of 19 and moved to Chicago.  I then moved to Paramount, CA for 4 months.  I moved back to Chicago in 2004.  I moved back to Mississippi in 2006 when I was 47.  Getting away from it all can be good.  I know that I want to move again, but am being hampered by the fact that my hubby is on parole, but I plan to move whenever he gets off.   :rainbow: :rainbow:

Just think if you could really find  a much cheaper house down south you would have that extra money for a bit while you're looking for a new job

Sometimes you just do just need to start over. I know plenty of people that have done and have never regretted it

I'm not one to dwell on regrets but if there is one thing that I wish I could take back it would be accepting the plan my ex-husband had for his future the day after he proposed.  At 19 I wanted to leave the state of Illinois and explore.  Being 19 I didn't know what I wanted to do but I knew I didn't want to stay in Illinois.  He worked for his Dad and said he couldn't leave the family business so we would have to stick around since he was the main income earner.  Being the door mat that I was.  We stayed.  Now divorced with 3 kids - I'm stuck in this state for another 11 years.  Ugh!  To top it off he's unemployed, has stopped paying child support and of last weekend I suspect he's giving up his visitation??? So I recommend going for it - ya wouldn't want to ask yourself in the future, "why didn't i?"

I want a fresh start as far as getting out of debt is concerned. Since I lost half of my income due to job loss a few years ago, I continue to struggles with my bills.  :BangHead: :crybaby2:

I want a fresh start too. Right now my husband and I are in the process of paying down our mortgage and fixing things that we can afford to do. Then we are going to sell it as fast as we can. We can't live here anymore. The area is not what it used to be and I feel I can't raise my boys here.

Speaking as a Texan, we have a lot of people move to our state each year. One of the stats was 25,000 to Dallas alone every year. That is a lot of people. No wonder our city keeps building more and more super highways. I do like the way mass transit is going to more rail options. I am staying where it only  goes below 10 degrees 1 or 2 days in a year. NOt the average temp for a month or more. Good luck on your quest!

I don't think I could pack up and leave my family and go somewhere else.  A lot of people do it though.  And FYI the South has had a cold and snowy winter this year too.  Even Florida has gotten snow.

Do it while you are young with few ties to the community you are currently in.

I can definitely relate to what you're saying, I want to explore other states too, as much as I love the snow, I want warmer weather, like California. I say do it, apply to as many job as as you can, wherever you want to move to, pack up, and go. Don't let fear hold you back, everyone needs a fresh start, go for it, and don't look back. Good luck with your decision!

I'll be one of those moving to Texas this year between June and July.  My ideal place to raise my kids seems to be Grand Prairie but I'm taking a trip in May to look around.
