good for the environment
« on: May 12, 2015, 08:54:01 am »
I try my best to do what's right for  the environment.
I use stainless steel bottles and filter my water instead of buying bottled water and polluting the oceans. [fish can't eat plastic].
I look for products that are recyclable materials.
I use ceramic cookware, which is better than the others.

There is something that has come on the market that caught my eye. ....bamboo toilet tissues.
It is said to be soft. I'll give it a try.
We do need some trees for shade.

We need trees for oxygen and air purification more

I recycle everything I can, use natural cleaning methods instead of chemicals and grow a kitchen garden.

I saw, on Twitter, that there's a Dutch man who's raising funds for a plan to remove the plastic from the oceans.

i too recycle as much as i can and we reuse alot of the plastic bottles and things instead of throwing them out --i found a sight online that shows different ways to use household things over and over instead of just once and you be surprised the things you can do with simple household items --i also try to plant a new tree every year --the one i planted last year didnt survive the cold this winter so i am planting two this year !

Good for you, us, future generations and mother Earth!  Thank you for being so thoughtful!  I also use a stainless steel bottle that I fill twice a day with filtered water. I pick up three aluminum cans per day and take the accumulation to the salvage yard once a year to be recycled. My efforts are not truly altruistic as I save forty cents for every plastc bottle I do not spend money on, and I make about thirty dollars a year when I recycle scrap metal. I have started ride sharing with my wife on rainy/snowy days.  On sunny days I take my bike to work or take a 50 cc scooter that gets one hundred and eight five miles to the one and a half gallon tank (costs me about five dollars per month for transportation). I also take my lunch every day and completely minimize wasted food in our house.

I try to not waste things and conserve electricity whenever I can. I would love to buy green products, but they're just too darn expensive.

I do what I can and really wish green products were not as expensive as they are.   Bamboo toilet paper........haven't heard of that but going to look it up to see what it's all about.    Thanks

I'm looking to get rid of all the plastic containers I have and start using glass and metal.

Yes, I agree. I can't bear the thought of trillions of empty water bottles causing useless trash heaps so I boil my tap water, let it cool and then store it in reusable plastic containers. So I'm only buying the container once and it never goes in my trash. If by some chance my plastic container splits, it goes in my recycling bin of course!

I am a lot more concerned with what is healthy for me.  In the long run, a lot of those things are good for the environment, but I would not sacrifice my health for the sake of the environment.

I recycle and try to be mindful of what I use.  I bring cloth bags to the store, and if I happen to forget them, I always bring the plastic bags back to recycle.

I try to recycle as much as possible, even to my composting every thing possible. You just can't compost meat. But all of my veggie scraps, egg shells and even the water I cook veggies in goes to the compost for my garden. I would love to have more trees but my property is not big enough to have more. But I do grow lots of plants plus my garden. I do not use plastic bottles for drinking. I have a large hand held thermos for my ice water. I do have one major peeve and that is seeing people throw trash out of their car windows. Oh how that ticks me off.

I do heavy recycling on my side and try to minimize what else I can to cut down on my carbon footrprint, but there is still limits if the price is still too high. I'm not sure of bamboo toilet paper, but if the price is right, I'll consider.
