I try my best to go a couple of times every few months, I feel like most of you, I am Christian and I call myself a Catholic but I do not need to be in Church to pray to God, you can do that anywhere anytime, now with the new Pope the Priests have changed some, and things are a bit more relax that before but every week Church is not my thing

@Kay0338 - The church I use to go to the preacher was always saying stuff about what he saw people doing on his way to church.  Aka, mowing their yards, out shopping, etc.  I also know for a fact that he and his wife both done things to run people out of the church.  Ever since when I hear people talking about people who don't go to church I always think "Step back and ask yourself if you personally are responsible for anyone not being at church".  Of course everyone would say no.  I grew up in church and have went all my life but lately there is just too much drama and politics.

Oh wow. I think a lot of people avoid church because of things like this. Aren't you supposed to go to church to worship, not so you can look down on those that don't? I agree, wayyy too much drama involved in churches now days.

I go to Sunday School, Morning Worship and Evening Worship services on Sunday and I attend our Adult Bible Study on Wednesday evenings.  We have such wonderful adult Bible teachers in our church that makes it a joy to learn about God and the Bible.  I'm currently getting a break from teaching children's Bible classes to enjoy being with the adults!
Have a wonderful day!

I use to go to church religiously every Sunday morning and evening. I believe in Christ just as much as I always did, but I feel church has changed somewhat over the decades. Now people take their ipods and ipads to amuse themselves, they take their knitting and other resources. Then I ask myself, are we here for the right reasons, or just because it is the "right" thing to do? Do we listen to the message, or do we just like to be "seen". I guess at the end of the day we will all have to answer for our actions and it is not for me to judge how other people listen effectively. What I mean is, perhaps people these days are active listeners.

lol.  I have never seen anyone knitting while in church.  But it does not surprise me at all.  I have however seen a ton of people on their phones.  Most say "oh my Bible is on my phone".  Maybe so but not within the Candy Crush app. lol

Like you just said, everyone will answer for their own actions.

Kimdud, In the EXTREME and unlikely chance that you lived nearby, I would invite you to visit my church, but unless you live in north central Ohio, it's probably not a drive you'd be willing to make!  ;)

But no need for you to wait for an invitation.  Find a few options in your area and check them out on your own! I am Catholic myself. Nothing is more uplifting or encouraging to me than attending Mass on Sunday.  Many churches (Catholic and otherwise) have welcoming committees who would be willing to talk to you or show you around.  It can be scary just showing up without any notice or contact ahead of time since you never know how a group might react to a stranger in their midst!

But if you really feel as though you would love to start going to church, that could just be God's way of calling you there.  Just this past Sunday a young girl (7 or 8 years old) was baptized in our church.  Her family is not Catholic, but they do send her to the local Catholic school where she is friends with my daughter. She asked her mom and dad if she could get baptized.  In the Catholic church, most are baptized as infants and then can later make the choice to be confirmed when they reach young adulthood.  In this case, it was a delight to see a child old enough to make the choice herself to be baptized!

I usually go the church on Sundays.  Sunday School at 10 Worship Service at 11.  I sing in the choir.  The only time I don't go is if I am sick or visiting my daughter.

I consider myself a Christian; however, I'm also a free spirit.  I love connecting with nature and that's where I have the most "spiritual" experiences.  I think of my Lord and Master 7 days a week and I do my best to radiate kindness and love without being part of a religious organization.

Have a great day!

I normally am in church right now but since my hubby is working today I slept in and I'm going to visit my mom today.  I miss not being at church because first of all I love God and want to hear the message but also it gives me comfort and energizes me for the week ahead.
