Tariffs probably but processed frozen food cost more I'm sure.

It isn't just the cost of frozen foods that is going up, it's the cost of just about everything. We are definitely spending more on food than we did a year ago and our real estate taxes and health insurance premiums are also going up. It just seems like the quality of life shrinks a little bit when these things happen.

groceries are expensive and we eat out several times a week, it is just as cheap to grab a fast food as buying groceries

We stopped buying beef, except ground beef and only on sale (last week $2.48/lb but still cost over $12, and pork chops on sale still cost over $6 for 6 of them) and we stopped buying a lot of fish because of the price. Even butter is now $4/lb. In last week's flyers, all meat (including deli), dairy, and fish went up by $1/lb. two weeks ago. Forget seafood. Salmon is $9/lb. now. Bacon is $5/lb. Even potatoes are now $3.50 for 5 lb. unless you hit them on sale, then they're $2.98. I notice coupons are only good for 3-4 weeks anymore, some only good for 2 weeks but the sales go on when the coupons run out.

I think the're trying to force us to become vegetarians! The only good deal are the TV dinners but they're so loaded with sodium, cholesterol, calories, and more, that I don't buy them very often.

They are not trying to force you to become vegetarians. Food is expensive. And the price will continue to increase and more and more freeloaders hook up to the system. Then everyone wants paid more.  The price will be passed on to the consumer.  I do not purchase beef at all and very little meat anyway. But the price of everything is going up.

That is because all the stores have increased  prices on everything in their stores.  It is awful on how high the prices are now. You buy less because you have less money.

Because no skill people are demanding to be paid more.  No brain people were saying oh it won't effect prices. They can afford it.  I knew all along if Walmart paid people $15 an hour prices would skyrocket.  They increased pay wages to $10 an hour with an increase to $11 in 90 days if you pass the tests they have.  And guess what, prices have increased by at least 25%.  Walmart is not going to lose money.  They will pass it on to the consumer. So will every other store.

The tariffs have not helped the pricing at all.   A lot of foods we used to get from Mexico, South and Central America have went up with them.  For 2 years now we have not let the migrant workers into the country who do a lot of the manual/lower paying jobs enter the country so many farmers and ranchers have just had to plow under or not plant crops at all because of no help.

Not sure where you are getting that for 2 years they have not let migrant workers in to the country.  They are coming in to the country by the THOUSANDS every day.  Farmers have NOT plowed up their fields and the "tariffs" have nothing to do with anything.  The tariffs that effected Mexico have not even went in to effect yet.  I am not sure why you think it is okay for them to charge us unreal tariffs but we are not suppose to charge them anything.  I say we charge what they charge us.

Food is going up and up.  It may also depends on what you eat.

Yes! I was just shopping in Aldi"s today where I generally  get good bargains; but some of the prices on basis staples seemed somewhat high; but I did the best I could.

I just read about a recall for soups that were shipped to Aldi's:

Thousands of pounds of 'Chef's Cupboard' soup sold at Aldi's recalled
Approximately 3,304 pounds of meat and poultry soup products were recalled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) Thursday.

Yes, it adds up that is for sure. Even with couponing we still spend quite a bit each week.

I usually spend $75 - $100 a week.  There is just my husband and I but I stock up on goodies for my grandson.
Have a wonderful day!

I agree I used to spend $150 a week when my girls were home, no is just hubby and me, we buy less and spend the same.  I have opted to go to different stores to buy, I go to Walmart for the big items, I go to Price Rite for cereals and other stuff, I love Lidl and Aldi for fruits, vegetables and some meats, and I hit Family dollar and big lots for some of the products like soap, detergents and lotions, deodorants, etc.  I go to Costco for trash bags (is the least expensive spend $20 and don't need to go back for 6 to 8 months), I also buy laundry detergent and softener there every 6 weeks (and big lots for in between).

I know they want us to be vegetarians, but even vegetables and fruits are expensive, and the Organic stuff cost even more.

You gonna have to stop with these recalls. lol
It isn't safe to buy anything anymore.  I am also not understanding how some of this stuff could happen.  It is either on purpose or because people just do not care.  There are quality checks from every 5 minutes to at the longest every hour on every aspect of the process of manufacturing food.  There is no way these things are just accidentally happening.

I did not follow your link yet.  This is not something I purchase.  One of the last ones you shared was something I in fact had just purchased. smh
