Love grilled cheese, but don't know the last time I had one. Usually like it with sharp cheddar cheese [no fake cheese]. Sometimes I like to have tomato, red onion and avocado on it. I don't eat much bread or flour items, but occasionally this is an exception. Also my husband and daughter like bread, but they too are trying to eat less. We are now experimenting with homemade bread using organic flour or non gmo flour to get rid of the crap. Nothing like warm homemade bread, just takes time.

I grew up on American Cheese so I guess that would be a favorite.  However, I haven't fixed Grilled Cheese Sandwiches for a long time.  Sounds good and I may put it on my next weeks menue. :D

I have always used American cheese on mine but would definitely not be opposed to trying other cheeses.  I love cheese.

I use cheddar cheese and use either white or wheat bread to make grilled cheese. I dip it in tomato soup to make it a great meal.

I always have to go American.  I used to love getting these in school.

BTW, FYI, American cheese is cheese food, not cheese. It's processed and is only required to have 51% real cheese. The rest is filler and emulsifiers. Is that TMI?  :-\

If you like it, I guess it doesn't really make that much difference. Oh, and it has a lower melting point so maybe it's better for toasted/grilled cheese sandwiches.  :icon_rr:
