Off-Topic / Re: Do you have a favorite commercial?
« on: October 25, 2013, 08:53:04 am »Message ID: 809459
Mine is the Geico spelling bee one - well old mcdonald was a bad speller - spell cow - he replied c o w e i e i o  love that one.  DAG-NABIT

I like the AT&T commercial with all the little kids sitting with the man. The little kids are so cute and very serious. It's not complicated, bigger is better lol

I kept searching until I found someone who said something about this guy interviewing the kids for the AT&T commercial. It is so funny and sweet. So I totally agree with you greenthumbjan. It's one of my all-time favorites.

And hkckk5, the Geico spelling bee is also quite clever. I told that joke to people for a while until it got old.  ;D

I don't like most commercials, and it's a real treat when they are clever and cute.

Anheuser-Busch (in St. Louis, MO for you non-Metro East people) used to be very good at making cute commercials with their Clydesdale horses. I'm not sure they will do them anymore now that they've been bought out by InBev.

I was just up in Geneva, Illinois last weekend and went to the All Chocolate Kitchen. The chef there, Chef Roby, actually made an entire kitchen out of chocolate.

I saw his work in progress a few years ago and just wanted to eat it all up!! Chef Roby is in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest candy cane and the tallest sugar skyscraper. If you're ever in the Chicago area, check it out. There's a 1,200 pound chocolate tree in the shop as well as a life-sized chocolate astronaut. Is that fun or what?

Anyway, last weekend I tried their chocolate sorbetto with a chili pepper. It was totally awesome.

Off-Topic / Re: Exercising
« on: October 22, 2013, 05:42:23 pm »Message ID: 808700
I need to exercise.  I prefer to do it when I am alone.  It is bad when you are overweight, but people tend to laugh when you are trying to exercise.  I used to walk a mile or more.  Now I get tired when I walk, and I wouldn't run because my knees tend to hurt.  It is no fun when your joints hurt and you feel a twinge if you try to even bend.  Yet I will take my time and try anyway.  I thank God I am not morbidly obese, like some people I know.  I would be insanely happy if I could lose enough to get to 160 pounds.  It would be truly wishful thinking to get back to my pre-weight size before I became pregnant, and that would be 140 pounds.  I know my daughter would be happy to see me in the 100's; she has never seen me that small. ??? ??? ??? :o :o :o :o

Keep at it, girl. It doesn't matter what anyone else says or thinks. It's YOU that's important. Slow or fast, just move.

I'll bet you will start feeling better if you do. And remember, there are always epsom salts if you get sore.

I saw him on the news and thought it was quite amusing. He was very impressive.

Don't you feel sorry for the poor things? They were there first and we're invading their territory. What else can they do?  :dontknow:

Off-Topic / Re: when did u learn to cook
« on: October 21, 2013, 02:56:33 pm »Message ID: 808319
I started at about age 6. In Samoa,, men do the cooking.. So it was hard work. There wasn't any electric range or stove we had to cook by building a fire. So the women was forbidden because it requires a lot of hard work. Gathering woods for fire, going to the plantation to gather foods like: bananas, taro, and breadfruits, fishing, and even roasting a pig in the underground oven requires a lot of work. etc. So it was a worthwhile sacrifice because I can pretty much cook anything my wife and kids would like to eat. I also find some of the best recipes and cooking on youtube.

I would love to eat dinner at your house. Sounds wonderful!

I mostly walk. I've talked to too many runners who have bad knees now. I jog a little to mix it up. A great alternative to running is to walk really, really fast.
It gets your heart rate up and is great for your blood pressure. It also helps your mood. Yay!

You lose more weight faster with running, but I don't think it's too good for your knees. Plus, you run the risk of falling. Falling can break your bones, and put you out of service altogether. I would rather not take the chance.

If you just keep moving, you're ahead of the game in many ways. So keep moving!  :P

I didn't eat much of anything until I fell in love. I asked my mom how to cook fried chicken and mashed potatoes because that's almost the only thing I ever ate as a child. That and chocolate ice-cream or chocolate pudding.

I no longer have the problem. I love all food and I like to cook. So there is always hope.

I heard on the radio that the system was seriously messed up. No one could sign up for it. Very poor planning.  :sad1:

You probably would be better served not signing up for it anyway.  :bs:

Just do the roots for a touch up. It's not so hard on your hair that way and you can keep on coloring when you want.  ;D

I tried some contacts today and now I cannot get them out. I'm going to keep trying but my eyes are killing me now.

Could some of you give me some tips? I'm not supposed to leave them in, but I'm having trouble getting them out.

Always watch out for people who wear hats while they're driving. They're notoriously bad drivers. Check it out. :o
