Have you ever been on a cruise?
« on: January 12, 2011, 08:28:04 am »
I was on one when I was in high school.  We are now thinking of doing a family one (with college aged grandkids).  Does anybody have any suggestions for lines or places to go.  We are big Disney fans, so at first thought about a Disney cruise, but it is geared more for younger kids and is priced way out of line!

I bought a package that had a couple of free cruises in it.  Can't tell you right now what it is because it is also my business, don't want to get in to trouble with posting rules.  I never knew how expensive they are until I bought this package.  Any way I have plans to take a couple this year, just to see the ocean.   Yippee

There's a new ship called the Disney Dream, you should check it out. Its absolutely family friendly, and has what they call the aquaduck, its a huge water slide around the top of the ship.

The new Disney Dream starts sailing on January 26, 2011.

I went on Royal Caribbean last July and went to the Bahamas. It was amazing, but not as kid friendly. They do have children's activities and such. They're just more directed toward the older crowd. I would definitely recommend Royal Caribbean to anyone looking for a couples getaway or just to go have some fun without the kids. They were fantastic!

We took a Carnival cruise about a dozen years ago.  It left from Miami and went to Cancun, Grand Caymen & Jamaica over a period of 7 days.  It was a wonderful time and I loved every minute of it.  We went in May and had beautiful weather through the whole trip.

I went on a cruise with my dad my junior year of high school.  We went to the Caribbean.  It was mostly a good time.  I would definitely like to go on one as an adult!

Boats of any size and I don't mesh.  I get seasick in the bathtub (joke).  Seriously though, I went on a Halibut charter in Homer, Alaska.  We left at 6 am, and came back at 6 pm (12 hours).  I was sick the whole time!  I chummed the waters so they could catch their fish.  It was miserable.  Never again....on any boat.

I had the same experience in the Gulf of Alaska, but on a cruise ship I didn't even feel it for 3 days and did just fine. What made me decide not to go again is they rip you off if you need Internet Access and I know it's not necessary.

Now that sounds like something the whole family could enjoy I have 3 grandsons Maybe we could plan to go sometime in the near future. They went on one when the boys were smaller and I have gone on several when I was married Might be time to go on another one.

I must say, that is one that I will be going on in the near future. Can't wait to hear about people's experiences on it. I work in travel, so I get to see a lot of people taking these kinds of vacations. But you should definitely look into it.

I just recently became a cruise junky just off of one cruise!! lol!!! It was amazing!! We went to Miami a day early and spent a day playin out there, and then cruised to Key West, Nassau, and Coco Cay then back to Miami. It was beautiful. Also did a little parasailing in Coco Cay, I would also recommend that!! Its not scary at all IMO.
