Another reason to switch to MAC ?

"Microsoft is telling Windows users that they'll have to reinstall the operating system if they get infected with a new rootkit that hides in the machine's boot sector.

A new variant of a Trojan Microsoft calls "Popureb" digs so deeply into the system that the only way to eradicate it is to return Windows to its out-of-the-box configuration, Chun Feng, an engineer with the Microsoft Malware Protection Center (MMPC), said last week on the group's blog ."

someone just hacked me yesterday. I don't get why people do that. It makes zero sense. if they are committing a crime might as well do something that makes sense.

Uuuugh.  But I would do this anyway, since Malware infections are getting so hard to remove.  It's easier for me to reformat the harddrive than do all the necessary scans.   :BangHead:

People complain from getting viruses but it's funny that it's their fault. You won't get a virus from visiting normal websites but going around on the Internet clicking bad links will cause you to get a virus. Also running a good antivirus will prevent 99% of the current viruses on the Internet.

Even with good surfing habits you are eventually going to accidentally hit a bad link or accidentally download a bad file. That is what this is right:

Backup Backup Backup

I run nightly back-ups to an offsite location. I hate data loss.

I once know a guy who would create virus' one after another.  One virus he created, he called it a screen saver.  It looked like the 4th of July.  It would shoot off what looked like fireworks, and people thought it was so cool to watch.  They didn't realize that every firework that went off was creating more damage in their computer.

Although it may not be for everyone, I've switched to Linux. Have yet to get one virus. It is annoying how a lot of the more obscure programs are only for windows though.
