we don't have kids, but my fiance and i have
a couple of kids we buy for from each side of the
family and we've decided to not do actual toys
this year, but things that they can create with.
paper, crayons, markers, clay, etc. we made each
kid a goody bag with crafty stuff and saved quite
a bit of money that way. we're both artistic ourselves,
so we thought that would be a good idea from us

oh, and books! i try to follow the trendy kids books
and i like to find the pop-up ones too. ones that will
keep their attention and they won't think of as a "lame"
gift... haha.
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

I have a 15 year old so it is techie things.  But he still wants to have some of the older things also.  We play card games as a family so every year I try to find a different type of game to give him.

Our 3-year old grandson likes all things with wheels - so he is getting those types of toys.  Trucks, trains, cars, etc.

i love this idea!
My 3 year old is into art type things and that has kept us busy for hours!  I think this is a great gift!
:)  we too are going to avoid toys for the most part.
