Goodluck on your goal. I haven't personally tried P90X, but some of my friends say it is a very good workout. In reality, its not that hard to lose weight. In order to lose weight ,all you must do is burn more calories than you take in. Seems simple enough right? You need both diet and exercise. The diet isn't all about eating less as most people think. Its about eating the correct food. Just don't get discouraged, stay determined, and you will reach your goal in no time.

Google is your friend. You can find me there. Can I find you there?

Thank you :)

One of my sisters lost 43 pounds on weight watchers over a years period of time.  I started it in March and just hit my 10 lb. loss goal and I'm older than she so my botabilism is not the same as hers.    I've not joined weight watchers but I did get some books and stuff from a garage sale and have been using them to count points.  I don't buy the meals but every once in a while to have something different.  Portion control is one of the main things and I've not had any trouble cutting back.  I eat fruit for breakfast, snack on fruit, eat yogurt some days, have 1/2 sandwhich for lunch with sweet tea and eat whatever my husband cooks for supper but I weigh and measure to make sure I don't eat too much.  You can basically eat what you want as long as you control your portions.  My goal is to lose another 20-25 pounds and really feel like I'll be able to do that and to keep it off.  That's where I've always failed with other diets; I loose the 5 or so pounds  but then put it back on.  Good luck!

I did p90x for the full 3 months and lost a little over 20 pounds and gained a lot of muscle.  I also followed the meal plan they suggested.  I stopped after the first round though, because it was taking up too much time and life got in the way.

I am currently a memeber of fitnesspal.com and there are alot of interesting people and blogs of weightloss experiences. I myself have lost 29lbs since January. Just remember dont cut out your carbs just eat complex ones and make sure you eat. You must eat to lose weight. Some people think the less you eat the more you lose but it doesnt work that way. You dont need to do crazy workouts either. Its great whichever you choose but dont kill yourself. There is no need. Walking does a great job. 30lbs is a high goal. You should set yourself lower on a goal so that it doesnt take as long to acheive. It sets you up for better results. Also at My fitnesspal.com you get a diet profile according to your height and current weight and activity level. Then it tells you how much calories carbs protein and other things youll need to lose weight properly. You can also customize it. you should check it out at www.fitnesspal.com. good luck

Have not heard of the program you asked about but have lost from 356 down to 177 over the past 2 years, am still 27 pounds from goal.  Eat protein first, complex carbs (avoid white products and sugar), water, black coffee, unsweetened tea but only very occasional caloric drinks.  Dashing Dish website has terrific low calorie, high protein recipes that are very simple with ordinary ingredients.  Vary exercise program but 3 days a week is only enough to maintain, not lose, for me so 5-6 days mixing water, cardio, strength training.  Classes or a workout partner will push you to work harder.  It is not easy but it can be done.  Unfortunately it is a lifestyle change and have to stay vigilent forever.  Not just a diet, lose it and go back to life as usual.  Regain is even harder to get off.  Good luck.

I had a friend who did that and he said it was very difficult and it was very painful for a few days after he did it (I guess he forgot to stretch) but some people have had a lot of luck with it. That workout is more about gaining muscle than losing weight though.

To make your workouts more effective, be sure to change them up ever couple weeks.  Don't do the same video or same routine for more than 2 weeks.  New studies are showing your body adapts to the routine faster than previously expected (about 2 weeks to adapt), then the workouts become less effective, and that's usually the point where most people start to "feel bored" with the workout.  If you change things up - do videos in a different order, swap in a new video, create your own workout, etc - it keeps your body guessing, and the workouts remain fully effective.

Also, to help keep snacking down.  If you start to feel hungry, and you know you just ate - drink a glass of water first.  If you are still hungry in about 15 minutes, then get something healthy to snack on.  If you no longer feel hungry, then the "hunger" you felt was really you being thirsty.  One thing I learned a while back is that the first sign of being thirsty is actually hunger pains.  When you start to feel "thirsty", you are already dehydrated.

Finally, if the workouts you are doing includes strength training, don't watch your scale like a hawk.  What will probably happen is initially you'll see a drop in your weight, but then it will plateau or start to slightly increase.  If this happens, don't panic.  When doing strength training, there will eventually come a point where the muscle you are gaining over takes the fat you are burning.  Since muscle weighs more than fat, the added muscle may cause your weight to go up.  This is not necessarily a bad thing.  If this happens, gauge your success based on if your clothes are fitting better and you feel more energy and strength to do things.

Hope these help keep you encouraged and focused!
