LOL I typically say I am sorry but I have to go to the restroom because I took my water pills.  It always works and usually is true anyway.

Just say "gotta go now, talk to you later". Or "the dog needs to go out". Or "have to use the bathroom". Lol!

I've used the "I've got to go" excuse a few times back in the days when I used to answer the phone, LOL! I even had a relative one time just ignore my "I've got to go" excuse, so I had to make signals to my husband to say out loud, "Honey, I need to use the phone," so that the relative would hear it and finally let me go. That probably wouldn't work these days since everybody has their own cell phone!  :peace:

Ugh. Sometimes I hate talking on the phone. I am usually so busy I can't talk for very long anyways so I tell the other person I have to get to whatever I am doing at the time and that I will talk to them later.

I just tell them I have to go.  It works because I do have other things to do.

If I made the call, it's easier to end the call.  If they make the call, I say it was nice of them to call and try to end the call that way.

If I am on the phone with someone I don't know and they insist on continuing the conversation, I just say bye and then hang up. If it is someone I know, I just say that I have to go, then say nice talking to you and then good bye.

Nobody has ever responded to my subtle attempts to wind down a phone conversation so I always say that I have to go because of something else.

Just politely say you need to go and you'll talk to them later.
