I just got one 1 month ago, I really like it but my internet went out once and I had to call the internet company and you need internet for the phone to work :( Its good for a secondary phone though, especially if you have a prepaid minutes cell phone.

I have considered trying the Magic Jack, but I'm still on the fence, I have a couple of friends who love, and a couple of more than could not get to work for them, so I don't know...

I would love to get Magic Jack, except that our internet is through our phone line....I would assume that would be a small problem.

I have one, best gadget I ever bought. Did you hear they are coming out with one for cell phones?!

Magic Jack Eliminates Cell Phone Bills!
Saturday, January 9, 2010

Dan Borislow's Magic Jack has gone wirless!

The new version of Magic Jack allows free calls from cell phones in the home. In essence, the new Magic Jack is a small cell phone tower for the home.

The compact Magic Jack, is plugged into any USB port in a PC, it needs a broadband Internet connection to operate. Once plugged, Magic Jack detects when a compatible cell phone comes within 8 feet, and places a call to it. The user enters a short code on the phone. The phone is then linked to the Magic Jack, and as long as it's within range (3,000 square feet home - according to YMax Corp.) Magic Jack routes the call itself, over the Internet, rather than going through the cell phone operator's cellular tower. No minutes are subtracted from the user's account with the carrier. Any extra fees for international calls are subtracted from the user's account with Magic Jack, not the carrier.

According to YMax CEO Dan Borislow the device is legal because wireless spectrum licenses don't extend into the home.

YMax has sold 5 million Magic Jack's for landline phones in the last two years and had revenue of US $ 110 million last year. It was won numerous accolades, including PC Magazine 'editors' choice 2008' and TMC Communications' 'Product of the Year'.

Magic Jack is simple and easy to use. It is sure to face opposition from cell phone giants because the new cellular version will certainly attract a lot of customers.

While the Internet is out it will go through voice mail and it doesn't happen very often with cable.

I need my landline for faxing and have unlimited cell minutes. But the options just keep getting better and Magic Jack is great for some.
