Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
« on: July 05, 2018, 01:54:02 pm »
I recently been diagnosed with this condition.  I use my computer a lot, for hours but when I looked it up it states it has nothing to do with using your devices for a long time. It has a lot to do with a nerve in your hand. Anyone heard of this condition?

Yes I have heard of it because I also have it and have seen a neurologist about it. Excessive computer work definitely does make it worse. The doctor told me I basically had two options for dealing with it: buying a brace (which I did) or
having an operation (which I didn't.) You can buy a good brace at CVS or Walgreens for less than $20. The braces help but don't cure the condition.

Yes, I had carpal tunnel syndrome from driving and
doing heavy work. It completely went away when I
stop driving and doing harmful work. Re-examing
your activities...and see what you can do about it.

Yeah, I heard of Carpel Tunnel Syndrome from a few artists that suffer from it due to extensive amount of work with their hand. There are ways to prevent getting it is to stretch your hand and wrists.

I have had a carpal tunnel release done and both of my hands. Excessive typing  can lead to carpal tunnel. In my case it's because I walk with two canes. I had the release done because of massive numbing in  both of my hands.
If you are having numbness in your hands I would suggest you see a doctor.  Waiting too long will definitely limit your options.
The release for me was very minor surgery and very effective.  :rose: :rainbow: :peace:

Yes heard of it and a couple of people that I know had the surgery to try and correct it.  Both claimed that within a couple of months they felt better but still had pain.

I heard of it, it’s pretty common.  You can have surgery, but first go to any drugstore and buy a brace for your hand.  Wear it for a few weeks, it helped me and I didn’t have to have surgery.  Good luck.

I don't get that because people have always had jobs like typing all day and other stuff and they never had this problem.  It is just in recent years that everybody starting getting CT from doing repetitive work.

Why don't you try improving your social economic conditions in some way?

I do not know. You will have to run in a healthier circler. Increasing in wealth gradually.

I had carpal tunnel syndrome once from typing and such. I wore a brace for a while which did absolutely no good at all. Then I started doing weight building with some small weights to strengthen my wrists and it went totally away.

Carpal tunnel comes from repetitive motion, so sometimes you can avoid it by just stopping and moving your hand in a different direction than you have been moving it to retain your range of motion.

I know people who have surgery had done for it, but I don't know of anyone who got relief that way.

Pretty sure I have it since I spend more or less 13 hours a day on a computer desk, I have heard of it and laughed on it during a south park episode only to google it.

What I discovered was it's more from the mouse than the keyboard. I bought a small table that fits under my desk and put an old loose leaf binder on it with my mouse pad slanting slightly away from me. It relaxes those muscles in my wrist and helped a lot.

I have heard of the condition and am very well aware of it, as one of my relatives was diagnosed with CTS a few years ago. It is usually associated with regular usage of computers, though I am very sure that it is more neurological than technological, ha ha.

My mother had the surgery in both wrist. She was never one to use a computer. Back then when she was working they hardly had anything on computers yet. She worked as a postal clerk in the mail room. I believe the weight of the sacks of mail she emptied caused her problems.
