Exodus
20 Then God spoke all these words:+

2 “I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.+ 3 You must not have any other gods besides me.*+

4 “You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form* like anything that is in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth.+ 5 You must not bow down to them nor be enticed to serve them,+ for I, Jehovah your God, am a God who requires exclusive devotion,+ bringing punishment for the error of fathers upon sons, upon the third generation and upon the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing loyal love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments.+

Like i said earlier......i didnt write the bible. Some might ask why should God feel like this.......
Revelation 4:11 11"You are worthy, our LORD and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being."

I think its ok if other moms exist.Only 1 TRUE God.

What would believe if you had no book?  Think on that for awhile.
I was brought up a catholic and i had questions RE their teachings.I wont get into that unless you really wanna know.

The question that bugged me the most was why does a loving God permit so much dying and wickedness in the world.A gentlemen my age was going door to door that day from Jehovahs organization and gave me a book called "Evolution or Creation.I took the book and after a month i skimmed thru it and there was a chaptor in it why God permits wickedness and it explained by referencing the bible. This was around 1973 when smoking pot and not working were the answers.

I knew from there that i never really understood bible. Now i do from association, meetings etc that this is Gods organization. But to know the answers isnt enuff.Or should i say faith without works is dead.I have my own battles in life and i enjoy still sharing what i know and will defend Gods organization.

I have even seen you quote parts of the bible but question other parts. You cant serve 2 masters said Jesus. That pertains to all of us.

There's the rub, Hitch.  The bible is not who/what I serve.

Paints if you dont support the bible why do u quote part of it?“Pray incessantly. In connection with everything give thanks.”—1 Thessalonians 5:17, 18.

Or do i take it to mean you will decide for yourself what is good and bad as Satan told  Eve she would be better off doing?

Or do u just feel the bible is a book of fiction thats only been around 1000s of yrs as well as translated into many languages and shows its divinity by saying what will happen in the future?Even tho mankind and Satan have gone out of their way to get rid of it?With NOOOOOO results from their perspective.

Hitch, the bible is a book written by men.  There is truth in it, but it is not THE Truth.

Paints that is true men wrote it,but God inspired them what to write, just like a secretary takes dictation from her boss.2 Timothy 3:16-17, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.". All Scripture is inspired by God Inspired by God, not man. God chose to work through the agency of His people.

From what the bible reads if those were just mens words there would be NO problems in this world. But it tells us all the answers to why we we are here, why we die etc.It has been around 1000s of yrs, translated into many languages and shows its divinity predicting the future.Even California Physics cant duplicate its divinity that way.

1 example is how Jesus told his followers when they saw city of Jerusalem surrounded by the Roman armies to leave the city.In 66 CE the Roman armies surrounded the city but withdrew. Those that left were saved cos in 70CE Jerusalem was taken.Go read history or are you gonna dispute that too? There are even names of the Generals involved both yrs.I dont have them offhand and i am sure you arent interested, but if u ask i will provide.

You are quite lost if you arent convinced the bible wasnt written by God.Its a lot easier to know that then think HE provided you with baking pans.

Luke 21:20-22

20  “However, when you see Jerusalem surrounded by encamped armies,a then know that the desolating of her has drawn near.b 21  Then let those in Ju·deʹa begin fleeing to the mountains,c let those in the midst of her leave, and let those in the countryside not enter into her, 22  because these are days for meting out justice in order that all the things written may be fulfilled.

Paints if u dont mind me asking,do u believe Jesus existed? And if u do aside from the bible how would we know about his life?

When he tells Pilate i came into the world to speak the truth and tell us who God is and that he is Gods son and existed ions ago in heaven as a spirit you dont accept that?

Or with all the influence of the occult and evil in this world you dont think Satan and his angels exist either?

Awhile back, I got interested in baking bread.  It was a little frustrating because most of the recipes I've found make anywhere from 2 to 4 loaves, and I only had one loaf pan.  I was baking either one loaf at a time, or using different sized pans.

One day, after it had taken almost all day to get the bread baked, and having to figure out how long the different sized loaves would take to bake, I said, "Lord, I really need some bread pans...and maybe a blender too, if you don't mind..."

A few days later, I had to go to the apartment complex office.  As I walked in, I noticed there were some things on the free table, so I walked over to check it out.  Sitting right on the end, there were 4 bread pans and a blender.

I would say an answered prayer.

I guess I don't ask in the right way or expecting too much.  I've never had a prayer answered. We might lose our house this year for back taxes. Just received a letter from the group that represents the school district and we have 30 days to pay up. We only owe last year's and we've already received the township taxes for this year (we were able to pay those last year).

You are one year behind and they are giving you 30 days to get off the property?  That seems odd.  Guess it depends on the state and the county.  In my county it has to be I think 2 years behind.  But then if they have a property sale the new owner cannot do anything with the property for 1 year because the previous owner can still come back and reclaim the property for one more year.

I would check with a lawyer before I just vacated the property.  I deposit a little in to an account every month so I have the property taxes.

Again, I am new to the Forum so I am not sure where I am in the conversation but we should not only pray when we are in need. Praying includes giving thanks, praying for others, praying for the world in general, praying for the beauty we are blessed to see every single day. It is called practicing your faith and it works. I have experienced it more times than I can count. What we want is not always best. God, by whatever name, will take care of it. We have free will but God knows best. (I do NOT attend church nor do I follow any religion.)

Actually, you can and should pray about anything and everything. There is nothing wrong with praying, like she did for a loaf pan.  It worked.  She not only got 1 but 4 and the blender as well.  Obviously she could not just go out and purchase the items.  She asked God for them and they showed up at her door.
