Off-Topic / What do you think about Newport Lifeguards making all that cash?
« on: May 21, 2011, 06:59:08 am »Message ID: 356407
During an economic crisis that has caused blackouts in California it has bee reported that Newport lifeguards can be making over $200,000.00 per year and, after thirty years of service, can retire with 90% of their pay.  Seriously?  We can't pay our teachers, the country (and California) are nearly bankrupt yet California can pay these people an ongoing benefit?  We have Doctors that don't make that much.

Off-Topic / Oh Arnold! No wonder Maria won't be bock!
« on: May 17, 2011, 05:19:30 am »Message ID: 354681
A ten year old child by another woman?  He knew about this going into office? The fifteen year itch?  With the housekeeping staff?  Is their a person in political office who can keep their sexual hunger at bay?  At least his kids are old enough to not be completely, psychologically destroyed. Strike up another sexual conquest for the Republican party!

Off-Topic / Obama's approval hits two year high!
« on: May 11, 2011, 12:53:19 pm »Message ID: 352243
Even in the face of destruction and economic irresponsibility that the previous administration left behind!  From the previous dictator's lowest approval rating to 60% of those surveyed approving what Obama is doing as a president. I suppose that we will hear that these statistics are coming from a liberal source...the Associated Press? 53% believe that Obama should be re-elected in 2012!  No wonder the prior president would rather be in seclusion than attend a ceremony honoring those that died 911.

Off-Topic / What do you think of "America's Best Dance Crew" (ABDC)?
« on: May 11, 2011, 05:37:53 am »Message ID: 352028
As tired of dance shows, reality shows, talent shows with snobby judges...I am amazed at the talent on this show! My kids are wowed and inspired and this has provided a good outlet for the family to sit down and be entertained.  My wife is gaga about Mario Lopez...body, dimples and personality...who wouldn't be!  The special appearances by today's popstars really adds to the show as well.

Off-Topic / Maria Shriver and Arnold Scwarzeneggar Separating?
« on: May 10, 2011, 06:26:19 am »Message ID: 351526
How convenient that Arnold gets involved with one of the most politically affluent females prior to making a bid for Governor of California and, four months after he leaves office, they get separated.  Was he using her or did they get tired of each other when they had more time together?  I am leaning  towards Arnold choosing Maria to enhance his political aspirations.

Off-Topic / Fast Five: Who was tougher... Vin Diesel or Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson?
« on: May 02, 2011, 07:44:03 am »Message ID: 347626
I went to see Fast Five on Saturday night with my son, his friend and his friend's father.  Personally I thought that the Rock was tougher even though Vin Diesel beat him in a fight.  The movie was great but long (130 minutes) and I felt like I had done 100 sit-ups when I walked out of the theatre due to all of the action and drama.  Certainly not an Oscar nominee but very entertaining.

Off-Topic / Do you believe that Osama Bin Laden is really dead?
« on: May 02, 2011, 06:51:47 am »Message ID: 347602
I think that it is really suspicious that we have respected the religious tenants of a man reponsible for thousands of innocent people dying.  A burial at sea?  No proof of DNA? No Photographs?  Not a single stitch of proof other than the say-so from a politician?  We have relied on information given to us from Presidents and Politicians that had alot mor substantiation than this and were fooled.  "Read my lips...no new taxes", "I did not have sex with that woman", "The war is over", 'we have proof of weapons of mass destruction'...seriously?

Off-Topic / How much will you spend on the family's Easter Basket?
« on: April 22, 2011, 10:45:01 am »Message ID: 343029
I just finished spending $80.00 and have to purchase a magazine for my daughter's basket.  These things are loaded with candy, my son has wrist guards in his, my wife socks, ear phones in mine and a few silly little two dollar trinkets made in Taiwan.  I come from Wisconsin where every holiday is an opportunity to celebrate another day of living.

Off-Topic / Did anyone see Nicholas Cage's last movie "Drive Angry"?
« on: April 20, 2011, 08:07:21 am »Message ID: 342464
I thought that it should have been rated "X".  I talked my wife into taking our twelve year old son to see this movie because it looked like it was just another car chase thriller type of movie and assumed it would be safe because Nicholas Cage hasn't put out any offensive movies.  Boy were we surprised and shocked. The five minute introduction was rife with awful language.  The next ten minutes had a fight happen between two women, one of which had no clothes on. Five minutes later Nicholas cage is having wall bangining sex with one woman while the heroine of the movie was in the next room having sex with another man and banging the walls in return.  We walked at that point and the theatre refunded our tickets.

Off-Topic / Charlie Sheen is looking frightfully thin.
« on: March 09, 2011, 05:52:51 am »Message ID: 324011
I like Charlie Sheen, as an actor, immensely. His tallow, anemic physical appearance is similar to the many people that I have encountered that are controlled by methamphetamine use. His erratic behavior supports this hypothesis.  Wild mood swings, lack of attendance at work and important functions, intense sex drive, and refusal to get help all corroborate this theory.  Has anyone else dealt with this kind of behavior and recognize these traits?

Off-Topic / What movie is going to win at the Oscars?
« on: February 24, 2011, 05:51:25 am »Message ID: 317470
I have heard that "King's Speech" and "Black Swan" are running neck and neck.  I haven't seen either one but heard that they are both extraordinary.  I usually wait until after the Oscar's to go out and see the movies that were won and were nominated.

Off-Topic / Married over 15 years, two of them happy and have met someone special-what now?
« on: February 17, 2011, 05:20:21 am »Message ID: 314804
Two kids, beautiful house...am I selfish in wanting to explore someone who appreciates me more? Is there someting to the "second times a charm" cliche?  Should I stay happy with the ego stroke afforded me by the lovely young lady that has shown interest?

Off-Topic / Is anyone watching the Australian open?
« on: January 27, 2011, 08:20:24 am »Message ID: 304951
I am watching between shifts from 9-10:30 PM each night but am finding that most people aren't watching...probably because of the late time at which it is aired, that the Americans have been knocked out, or Tennis isn't a mainstream sport.  I am starting to play again...swapping out running after a major injury.

Debate & Discuss / Does God create challenges for you if you don't challenge yourself?
« on: January 20, 2011, 08:23:03 am »Message ID: 301412
Prior to having an intense work schedule, two kids, and training for an ultra-marathon I would have one thing after another happening that would have me asking "Why me?".  Now that I am seemingly too busy for problems they don't seem to crop up as frequently.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Off-Topic / Ever thought about leaving everything in your current life and starting all over
« on: January 14, 2011, 06:29:54 am »Message ID: 298939
I read John Updike's "Run Rabbit Run" in College and the concept of leaving it all behind and starting afresh surfaces more and more.  Leaving the daily grind, selfless/thankless acts, torturing myself by working three times harder than anyone that I know, sacrificing my body and health and not getting what I want...trading it for a minimal stress, fun job out of the country, turning my back on the people leaching the life from my body, and starting all over...a whole new and simpler life sounds so much better (maybe its just a guy thing).
